Job Description, Executive Director for ANC 1B

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: ANC 1B is looking for a part-time Executive Director. This is a paid position, with salary to commensurate with experience. The Executive Director works under the direct supervision of the Chair, and receives general guidance from the 1B Executive Committee on policy and procedure. Illustrative examples and categories of the incumbent's duties and responsibilities are as follows:

 

A.      OFFICE MANAGEMENT

1.        responsible for all office functions and operations;

2.        trains and supervises all employees and volunteers, and maintains complete and accurate time and leave records;

3.        responsible for purchase arrangements for office supplies, furniture, equipment, and rental and service agreements;

4.        responsible for the condition and repair of office equipment;

5.        prepares office policy and procedure for approval;

6.        makes recommendations for space needs and facilities planning;

 

B.      STAFF FUNCTIONS

1.        assists the 1B Chair in the execution of her/his duties;

2.        assists the 1B Secretary in the execution of his/her duties,

3.        assists the 1B Treasurer in the execution of her/his duties,

4.        assists Commissioners, and committee and task force chairs with meeting arrangements, notices and the preparation of materials;

5.        prepares reports, correspondence, agendas, resolutions, notices, memoranda, and news or information releases at the direction of the chair, or by request of any Commissioner or committee chair;

6.        acts as a liaison on behalf of the Commission with officials and agencies of the Federal or District of Columbia Governments, and with representatives of community organizations or other groups;

 

C.      CONSTITUENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES

1.        provides information and assistance to 1B residents on services available from D.C. Government, or within the 1B Commission area;

2.        prepares casework forms documenting protracted constituent service complaints or difficulty in obtaining authorized services from D.C. Government;

3.        assists 1B Commissioners in the resolution of Single Member District matters, and with the proper discharge of their official responsibilities;

4.        maintains and ensures proper accounting of petty cash funds;

5.        Provides for the secure placement of checking, tax, and other financial documents and records; and related duties as required.

 

D.      QUALIFICATIONS

1.        The 1B Executive Director serves at the pleasure of the Commission. A highly qualified candidate will possess a college degree and experience with community organizations; District of Columbia Government experience in a program, informational, or contact representative capacity will be especially valuable as a ranking factor for qualified candidates.  1B residents shall be accorded preference points.
