Standing Committees – 2012

 

ANC 1B is seeking Chairpersons and members of its standing committees. Any resident of ANC 1B is eligible to serve as a committee chair, or as a member of a committee. The Commission is interested in having committee leadership come from the community. A list of ANC 1B standing committees and descriptions of their functions follows. If you are interested in serving as a committee chair, please contact the ANC Commissioner who represents your single-member district. The Commission strongly encourages interested residents of ANC 1B to apply to serve as a committee chairperson or become members of committees.

 

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE – Commissioner Sedrick Muhammad, Chair

The committee reviews all issues affecting public safety and law enforcement in ANC 1B and recommends actions to the Commission when appropriate.  For more information, contact Commissioner Muhammad at  sedrickmuhammad@yahoo.com or 719-0281.

The Public Safety Committee meets at 6:00 PM on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the ANC 1B office, 2000 14th Street N.W., Suite 100B 

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE – Commissioner Tony Norman, Chair

The Design Review Committee reviews all applications and proposals relating to development, design, historic preservation, zoning and transportation.  The Committee makes recommendations to the full Commission on such matters.

The Design Review Committee meets on the third Monday of the month.

 

ABC (Liquor Licenses) COMMITTEE – Commissioner Charlie Meisch, Interim Chair

The ABC Committee reviews and recommends action to the Commission on all issues affecting liquor, restaurant, retail and entertainment licenses.  For more information, contact Commissioner Meisch at 1b06@anc.dc.gov or 202-640-5463. 

The ABC Committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month.

 

GRANTS COMMITTEE – Ms. Halima Roebuck, Chair

The Grants Committee reviews applications from community organizations for grants from ANC 1B to support worthy projects.  For more information, contact Ms. Roebuck at halimaroebuck@comcast.net or 301-442-0583.

Grant applications must be submitted to the Committee not later than the 15th day of the month of the committee meeting when the application will be reviewed.  All applications must be reviewed by the Committee before being presented to the full Commission, and a representative of the applicant must attend the Grants Committee meeting at which the application will be considered.
