Chair/Co-Chair Application Process

Any resident residing in the Commission’s boundaries who wishes to serve as Chair or Co-Chair of a standing committee should apply via this online application form. Applications open on Monday, January 8 and are due by end of day, Monday, January 22, 2024.

The ANC 1B Executive Committee shall review all eligible submissions and present nominations for chair or co-chair of each committee to the full Commission for approval at our February 1 meeting.

Standing committee chairs shall be appointed to serve a one-year term, or until a successor is appointed. In general, Committee Chairs are responsible for convening monthly meetings to conduct relevant business and for presenting that work at the monthly ANC 1B Commission meetings (generally the first Thursday of each month). Specific processes and expectations vary by committee and the time commitment is generally between 10-20 hours/month.

Questions regarding the application process can be directed to Larry Handerhan (1B01@anc.dc.gov), Vice Chair of the Commission.

 Member Interest Process

Any resident or individual with business interests in the Commission’s boundaries who wishes to serve as a voting member of a committee should apply via this online application form. Membership will be considered on a rolling basis and at the discretion of the Committee Chair.

Voting members of each committee are open to all residents and those with business interests in the area and are appointed at the discretion of the Committee Chair (priority will be given to residents of the Commission).
