Community Engagement Committee Meeting Recordings

The Community Engagement Committee (CE) shall endeavor to increase public participation in Commission-related activities and promote the Commission at a grassroots level, increase community access to the Commission and promote public awareness of the Commission’s role and its activities by executing various strategies and utilizing various mediums of communication.

2025 Committee Highlights

  • Expanded community partnerships and outreach, including collaboration with local schools, recreation centers, neighborhood associations, and arts organizations.

  • Supported community events such as Shakespeare in the Park, Art All Night, school block parties, and local pop-up engagement tables, increasing ANC visibility and participation.

  • Advanced initiatives to strengthen neighborhood identity, including planning for U Street and Duke District banners and exploring historic walking tours and arts tie-ins.

  • Explored launching a farmers’ market at the Reeves Center and identified potential partners, including DPR, FreshFarm, Common Good City Farm, and local Black farmers.

  • Encouraged creative community engagement formats, including restaurant crawls, neighbor-to-neighbor events, youth outreach, and presence at local markets and gatherings.
