The Economic Development Committee manages the engagement process for the disposition of public property in ANC 1B as well as other changes that have the ability to substantially impact our neighborhood.

2025 Committee Highlights

  • Led community discussions on the proposed Neighborhood Management Authority to improve coordination, services, and investment in the U Street and North Shaw corridors.

  • Facilitated public engagement with DMPED on redevelopment projects at the Reeves Center, Rita Bright site, and 1617 U Street, emphasizing community input, timelines, and transparency.

  • Supported early planning for a U Street Business Improvement District, focusing on corridor boundaries, organizational structure, and service priorities.

  • Advanced discussions on activating public spaces, including plans for park development at 625 T Street NW and addressing issues like signage, trash, and access.

  • Encouraged greater participation and communication between businesses, Main Streets programs, ANC commissioners, and residents to improve coordination and community responsiveness.
